After reading the script, Jessica knew that the role would require weapons training and she recorded her first lesson by a trained professional. Jonathan Glassner stated that they were amazed at Jessica's performance in her initial training session. She had never played any major roles before the US because all of her filmography was in Australia. Jessica can play the role of a strong woman because of her passion for action, mixed martial arts expertise, her horse-riding, her weapon and firearms abilities, and her athletic skills. In Australia she learned muay Thai and boxing. Jake Stormoen was shooting Season 4 of the show, met a stray puppy who was wandering around the sets. This dog was actually a stray puppy that lived on the location. Jessica fostered the two puppies.
